Radical 'Immune Reset' offers hope for kids with devastating autoimmune diseases

NCT ID NCT05029336

Summary

This study is testing a stem cell transplant procedure for children and young adults with severe, life-threatening forms of lupus or scleroderma that haven't responded to standard treatments. The goal is to use high-dose chemotherapy to wipe out the faulty immune system and then rebuild it with the patient's own stem cells, aiming for long-term disease control. Researchers will track survival, disease activity, and quality of life for up to five years after the transplant.
