New transplant strategy aims to tame tough blood cancers
NCT ID NCT01885689
Summary
This study is testing a two-drug chemotherapy regimen followed by a donor stem cell transplant for adults with certain blood cancers that are in remission or at high risk. The goal is to see if this approach can better control the disease and prevent it from coming back after the transplant, while potentially causing fewer side effects than standard treatments. After the transplant, patients must take long-term medications to prevent their body from rejecting the donor cells and to manage complications.
