New transplant method aims to cure rare immune disease

NCT ID NCT02629120

Summary

This study is testing a modified stem cell transplant procedure for people with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD), a rare genetic disorder that weakens the immune system. Researchers are using a high dose of donor stem cells along with specific medications after the transplant to help the body accept the new cells while reducing dangerous side effects. The goal is to replace the faulty immune system with a healthy one, potentially providing long-term control of the disease for participants aged 4 to 65.
