First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study tested if a single infusion of stem cells from donated umbilical cords could help adults with severe lupus that wasn't controlled by standard treatments. 81 participants received either the stem cells or a placebo, plus their usual care. The main goal was to see if the stem cell group had better disease control after 24 weeks, measured by a standard lupus activity score.
