Stem cells show promise for reversing liver damage
NCT ID NCT05080465
Summary
This study tested whether using a patient's own stem cells could help improve liver function in people with advanced liver scarring (cirrhosis). Researchers followed 700 patients with cirrhosis caused by hepatitis viruses or fatty liver disease to see if stem cell therapy was safe and could reduce liver stiffness. The goal was to find an alternative treatment for people who cannot get liver transplants.
