Cord blood stem cells take on lung disease in first human test

NCT ID NCT06534528

First seen May 13, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026

Summary

This early study tests whether stem cells from donated umbilical cords are safe for people with interstitial lung disease, a condition that scars the lungs and makes breathing hard. About 24 adults will receive an injection of these cells. The main goal is to find the safest dose and check for side effects, while also looking for signs that the treatment might help lung function.
