First human test: cord stem cells injected to help stroke patients heal
NCT ID NCT05697718
Summary
This small, early-stage study aimed to see if a single infusion of stem cells from umbilical cords is safe for people recovering from a stroke. It involved 18 patients who were 3 to 6 months past their stroke. Researchers gave the infusion and then closely monitored participants for 24 weeks for any side effects, while also checking for early signs of improved movement and function.
