First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-stage trial tests whether transplanting lab-grown retinal cells (made from stem cells) into the eye is safe for people with late-stage age-related macular degeneration. Nine participants will receive the cell transplant and be monitored for side effects and any improvement in vision. The goal is to see if this approach can stop or slow further vision loss.
