Study tests gentler way to harvest cells for cancer transplant

NCT ID NCT05517213

Summary

This study compared two drug combinations used to collect a patient's own stem cells from their blood before a transplant for multiple myeloma. Researchers wanted to see if one method (using etoposide) was more effective and caused fewer side effects than the standard method (using cyclophosphamide). The goal was to find a better way to collect enough healthy cells so more patients could successfully proceed with their transplant.
