Stem cell bone graft tested to heal spinal fusions

NCT ID NCT00941980

Summary

This study tested a special bone graft material containing stem cells, called Osteocel Plus, to see how well it helps spinal bones grow together after fusion surgery for severe back pain. Researchers followed 28 patients with degenerative disc disease for two years after surgery to measure how many achieved solid bone fusion and how long it took. They compared these results to data from other bone graft materials used in similar procedures.
