Nerve block may calm racing hearts in POTS patients

NCT ID NCT06953661

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether a stellate ganglion block (an injection near nerves in the neck) can reduce symptoms of Postural Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a condition that causes a rapid heart rate upon standing. Twenty adults with POTS will receive either the real injection or a sham (fake) one, and researchers will track changes in symptoms and heart rate over follow-up visits. The goal is to see if this nerve block is a safe and effective option for symptom control.
