Old heart drug could be new weapon against World's deadliest infection

NCT ID NCT06199921

Summary

This study is testing if adding atorvastatin, a common cholesterol-lowering drug, to the standard tuberculosis (TB) treatment helps patients get better faster and more completely. It will involve 440 people with active lung TB to see if the combination clears the infection from the lungs more quickly, improves chest X-rays, and leads to fewer relapses over a year. The goal is to find a better treatment regimen to control this serious global disease.
