NCT ID NCT07462715

First seen Mar 10, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tests whether statins, a common cholesterol medicine, can protect the heart and brain from the harmful effects of breathing bushfire smoke. Healthy adults aged 18-64 will be exposed to simulated smoke or clean air in a controlled setting. Researchers will measure changes in heart rate, blood pressure, inflammation, and thinking skills to see if statins help reduce damage.
