70,000 patients studied: do statins help or hinder surgery recovery?

NCT ID NCT07575737

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looked at 70,000 adults who had major non-cardiac surgery to see if taking statins before surgery affected their chances of survival and how quickly they recovered at home. Researchers tracked deaths within 30 days and one year, as well as days spent at home after surgery. The goal was to understand whether statins' anti-inflammatory effects could reduce complications from the stress of surgery.
