New stent could spare tiny hearts from early surgery

NCT ID NCT07114718

First seen Mar 04, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests a special stent designed to keep a small blood vessel open in babies under 6 months old who have a congenital heart defect. The stent helps maintain blood flow to the lungs, which may delay or avoid the need for open-heart surgery in the first months of life. About 35 infants will be enrolled to see if the device is safe and works as intended.
