Kids' tooth crown study reveals gum reactions to different cements

NCT ID NCT07421206

First seen Feb 26, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at 45 healthy children aged 6-10 who needed stainless steel crowns on their back baby teeth. Researchers used two different types of cement to attach the crowns and checked gum health and inflammation markers one week later. They found that while both cements worked similarly for gum health, one type caused changes in a specific inflammation marker (IL-18), suggesting different materials may affect gums differently.
