Quick-hit anxiety med may calm light-triggered seizures

NCT ID NCT02351115

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This small study tested whether a single dose of Staccato Alprazolam (a fast-acting form of a common anxiety drug) could reduce seizure-related brain activity in people with photosensitive epilepsy. Five adults with a history of light-triggered brain responses took the drug or a placebo. The main goal was to see if the drug narrowed the range of flashing lights that cause abnormal brain activity. Results may help guide future treatments for epilepsy.
