Shorter TB prevention pill regimens aim to boost completion and safety

NCT ID NCT06498414

First seen Feb 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 23, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether shorter daily pill regimens (1–2 months) can safely prevent latent tuberculosis infection from turning into active disease. About 1,800 adults and children with a positive TB test will take one of several experimental pill combinations or the standard 4-month treatment. The goal is to find a regimen that is just as safe but easier to finish, with fewer side effects.
