First-in-Human trial aims to unlock a new Therapy's potential
NCT ID NCT06622070
First seen Aug 25, 2026 · Last updated Aug 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early-stage trial is testing an experimental drug called SPY002-072 in healthy volunteers to see if it is safe and how the body handles it. Participants receive a single dose of the drug or a placebo, and researchers monitor for side effects and measure drug levels in the blood. The goal is to gather essential safety data that could support future studies of this drug for treating inflammatory conditions.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- SPY002-072, an experimental drug
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this early trial could pave the way for further studies of SPY002-072 as a potential treatment for inflammatory bowel diseases.
- What could go wrong
- This is a first-in-human, Phase 1 study with a small number of healthy participants. It primarily assesses safety, not effectiveness, and unexpected side effects or unfavorable drug processing could halt development.
