New home spraying strategy fights dengue, zika, and chikungunya

NCT ID NCT04343521

Summary

This study tested whether spraying a special insecticide inside homes could prevent children from getting sick from diseases spread by Aedes mosquitoes, like dengue, Zika, and chikungunya. Researchers in Mexico enrolled over 4,400 children, aged 2 to 15, living in selected neighborhoods. They compared the health of children in homes that received the preventive spraying to those that did not, to see if it reduced infections.
