Simple scan could spare patients from uncomfortable tests

NCT ID NCT07319169

Summary

This study is testing whether measuring spleen stiffness, in addition to standard liver scans, can better predict complications in people with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), a chronic liver disease. Researchers will follow 125 adult patients already receiving standard care and treatment, adding a spleen scan during their regular check-ups. The goal is to see if this combined approach can accurately identify which patients are at low risk for serious complications, potentially allowing them to safely avoid more invasive procedures like endoscopies.
