Could pancreatic cancer surgery spare the spleen?
NCT ID NCT07157605
Summary
This study is gathering information to see if surgeons can safely leave the spleen in place when removing left-sided pancreatic cancer. Currently, the spleen is always removed during this surgery to clear nearby tissue, but this carries risks for the patient. Researchers will examine tissue from 94 patients to see how often the cancer has spread to the area around the spleen. If spread is rare, it could lead to future trials testing a less invasive surgery that preserves the spleen.
