Seaweed extract may soothe radiation burns in cancer Patients' throats

NCT ID NCT07324018

Summary

This study is testing if a product made from spirulina, a type of algae, can prevent or reduce the severity of painful swallowing (esophagitis) caused by radiation therapy in people with esophageal cancer. About 70 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the spirulina product or a placebo solution four times a day during their radiation treatment. The main goal is to see if the spirulina group experiences less severe throat pain and for a shorter duration.
