Seaweed spray trial offers hope for cancer Patients' painful mouth sores

NCT ID NCT07040969

Summary

This study is testing whether a spray made from spirulina (a type of algae) can prevent or reduce the severity of painful mouth sores caused by radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. About 70 patients will use either the spirulina spray or a placebo spray four times a day during their radiation treatment. Researchers will compare the two groups to see if the spirulina spray helps patients get fewer severe sores or have them for a shorter time.
