Seaweed power: can Blue-Green algae shield cancer patients from Chemo's agony?

NCT ID NCT05025826

Summary

This study is testing whether a highly concentrated extract from blue-green algae (spirulina), called Phycocare®, can protect against nerve damage caused by a chemotherapy drug called oxaliplatin. The trial involves 110 adults with advanced stomach, intestinal, or pancreatic cancers who are starting this specific chemo. Participants will take either the spirulina extract or a placebo (a dummy pill) during and for three months after their chemotherapy to see if it reduces nerve pain and improves quality of life.
