Summary

This early-stage study is testing if a common blood pressure and heart failure medicine called spironolactone is safe for people with alcohol use disorder and how it interacts with alcohol in the body. Researchers want to see how the drug is processed and if it changes how people feel or react after drinking. The study involves 20 adults with alcohol use disorder who will stay in a clinic several times to take different doses of the medicine or a placebo and then drink alcohol in a controlled setting.
