Zap therapy eases crippling muscle spasms in spinal injury patients
NCT ID NCT03815721
Summary
This study tested whether a non-invasive electrical stimulation treatment could reduce severe muscle stiffness (spasticity) and improve movement control in people with chronic, incomplete spinal cord injuries. Researchers applied the stimulation to the lower back of 12 participants to see if it could calm overactive nerve signals and provide lasting relief. The goal was to see if this approach could become a practical, home-based therapy to improve independence and quality of life.
