Spinal injury study probes mysterious 'Disembodiment' feeling

NCT ID NCT06688916

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study looks at how spinal cord injury (SCI) affects the way people sense and feel their own bodies, a feeling called embodiment. Some people with SCI experience 'disembodiment,' like feeling a limb is in a wrong position. Researchers will use brain scans and questionnaires to understand these changes in 80 adults, both with and without SCI.
