Can Pre-Measured angles make spinal anesthesia easier?
NCT ID NCT07210892
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at how doctors insert needles for spinal anesthesia. Researchers want to see if measuring the skin-to-spine distance beforehand can help pick the best needle angle, potentially reducing the number of pokes and adjustments. About 90 patients having routine spinal anesthesia will take part. The goal is to make the procedure more efficient and comfortable.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a simple method to reduce the number of needle sticks and adjustments during spinal anesthesia, making the procedure smoother.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage observational study. The findings may not apply to all patients or settings, and the benefit in real-world practice remains unproven.
