Spooky thoughts boost spider therapy?
NCT ID NCT05424250
First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 16 times
Summary
This study tested a new twist on exposure therapy for people with a strong fear of spiders. 67 participants went through a one-session training where they faced their fear, with some also imagining their worst fear about spiders. The goal was to see if adding these scary mental images made the therapy more effective. Results were checked one week later using questionnaires and a test of how close they could get to a spider.
