First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested a new sound-processing method to help adults with hearing loss who use both a cochlear implant and a hearing aid (bimodal hearing) understand speech better. Researchers identified which parts of consonant sounds help or confuse listeners, then amplified helpful parts and removed confusing ones. Forty adults aged 18-74 with at least one year of bimodal use participated. The goal was to see if these adjustments improve consonant recognition scores.
