First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study tests a new, non-invasive device that uses LED lights to measure how light scatters and is absorbed by the eardrum and middle ear. The goal is to see if this method can more accurately diagnose middle ear infections compared to the standard visual exam. The study will enroll 150 people of all ages who are scheduled for ear tube surgery. Results will be compared to the surgeon's findings during the procedure.
