New scan could reveal hidden cancer spread

NCT ID NCT07457541

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early-phase trial tests a radioactive imaging agent called Technetium-99m HYNIC-FAPI in 15 people with metastatic lung, pancreas, breast, or colorectal cancer. The goal is to see how well it highlights tumors on SPECT/CT scans. Researchers will measure where the agent goes in the body and how it compares to normal tissue, while also checking for safety.

Technetium-99m HYNIC-FAPI (a radioactive imaging agent)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could provide a new way to see where cancer has spread, helping doctors plan better treatments.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small study (15 people) focused on imaging, not treatment. It may not lead to any direct benefit for patients.
