New monitoring tech could sharpen prostate cancer radiation

NCT ID NCT02397317

First seen May 21, 2026 ยท Last updated May 21, 2026

Summary

This trial tested a technique called Kilovoltage Intrafraction Monitoring (KIM) during prostate cancer radiation therapy. The goal was to see if KIM helps doctors target the tumor more accurately, which could lower side effects. 49 men with low- or intermediate-risk prostate cancer took part. The study compared the radiation doses delivered with and without KIM to measure improvement.
