New depression drug enters major testing phase

Summary
This study is testing whether an experimental medication called SP-624 can help reduce symptoms of major depression in adults. About 456 participants will be randomly assigned to receive either SP-624 or a placebo pill, and neither they nor the doctors will know which one they get. Researchers will track changes in depression symptoms and daily functioning over time while monitoring for side effects.
