NCT ID NCT00989469

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tested a combination of two drugs, sorafenib and irinotecan, in 64 adults with metastatic colorectal cancer that has a K-RAS mutation and has progressed after prior treatment. The goal was to see if the combination could control the disease and to check for side effects. The trial was completed but results are not yet widely reported.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Sorafenib (Nexavar) and irinotecan (Campto)

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a new treatment option for people with a hard-to-treat form of colorectal cancer that has stopped responding to standard therapy.

What could go wrong

This is an early-phase trial with only 64 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The combination may cause significant side effects and may not improve disease control or survival.
