Sophrology: a new way to calm radiation anxiety?
NCT ID NCT07652060
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether sophrology, a relaxation technique using gentle movements, breathing, and positive visualization, can reduce anxiety in cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. Fifty-four adults with various cancers will be offered sophrology sessions during their treatment. Researchers will measure anxiety levels with a standard questionnaire to see if this mind-body approach helps patients feel calmer and cope better.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
sophrology (relaxation and visualization exercises)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to ease anxiety and improve quality of life for cancer patients during radiation therapy.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 54 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The benefits of sophrology are subjective and hard to measure, and the trial hasn't started yet.
