First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study follows 60 people with newly diagnosed giant cell arteritis, a condition that can cause sudden vision loss. Researchers use eye ultrasounds to measure optic nerve swelling before and after starting standard steroid treatment. The goal is to see how fast the swelling goes down and to find the best time window for accurate diagnosis. No new treatments are tested; all participants receive usual care.
