Scientists probe Body's hidden sodium defenses in kidney patients
NCT ID NCT06408077
Summary
This study aims to understand how the bodies of people with severe kidney failure handle changes in sodium and water levels. Researchers will give 60 participants on stable dialysis either an intravenous water or salt solution and measure how sodium moves inside and outside their cells. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about the body's natural defense systems against electrolyte imbalances, which could inform future treatments.
