Can a common ICU drug save lives from deadly kidney complication?

NCT ID NCT07464431

Summary

This study aims to find out if giving sodium bicarbonate (a common medication) to critically ill ICU patients who have both acute kidney injury and metabolic acidosis (too much acid in the blood) can improve their chances of survival and recovery 90 days later. It will enroll 660 adult patients in intensive care. This is a high-quality, double-blinded trial to provide clear evidence on whether this widely used treatment actually helps.
