First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a culturally adapted comic series called 'Magnificent Mei & Friends' can improve socio-emotional skills in 10-14 year old students in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. About 120 adolescents from 4 schools will take part, with some schools using the comics and others continuing as usual. The goal is to see if the program is feasible and acceptable, not yet to prove it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Magnificent Mei & Friends Comic Series (a behavioral intervention using comic-based group sessions to teach socio-emotional skills)
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could provide a low-cost, scalable way to improve mental health and reduce risky behaviors in school-going adolescents in Pakistan.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small feasibility study with only 120 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The intervention is new and culturally adapted, so its effectiveness is still uncertain.
