Summary

This study tested whether adding social gaming features to a weight loss app helped people lose more weight. Researchers compared two versions of an app over one year in 240 adults who were overweight or obese and had risk factors for type 2 diabetes. One app version used game-like points and social interactions to encourage healthy habits like tracking food and exercise.
