First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at how epilepsy affects a child's ability to understand others' thoughts and feelings, known as social cognition. Researchers will compare 96 children aged 6-12 with epilepsy to healthy children of the same age. They will use tests of memory, attention, language, and social reasoning to find links between brain functions and social skills.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this study could help design better support programs to improve social skills in children with epilepsy.

What could go wrong

This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly change how epilepsy is managed, and results may not apply to all children with epilepsy.
