First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether using forceps to help guide a tube into the bile duct during an ERCP procedure makes the process easier and reduces the risk of post-procedure pancreatitis. 152 adults with a natural (unoperated) bile duct opening took part. The main goal was to see if forceps-assisted cannulation led to fewer difficult cannulations and less pancreatitis.
