Blood test may let rectal cancer patients skip surgery

NCT ID NCT07292285

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a simple blood test (ctDNA) can help doctors decide which patients with stage 2 or 3 rectal cancer can safely avoid surgery and just be watched closely. About 200 adults will be followed to see if the test can also catch any cancer coming back early. The goal is to make the "watch and wait" approach more reliable.
