NCT ID NCT07524894

First seen Apr 28, 2026 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether a common antibiotic ointment applied inside the nose can reduce severe mouth and throat pain caused by radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. About 126 adults receiving high-dose radiation will be randomly assigned to get either the antibiotic or a placebo. The goal is to see if clearing staph bacteria from the nose lowers pain and helps patients eat and drink better during treatment.
