Scientists trace hidden path to cancer in smokeless tobacco

NCT ID NCT03998735

Summary

This study aims to understand how a specific chemical (nornicotine) found in smokeless tobacco products might turn into a known cancer-causing agent (NNN) inside the user's body. Researchers are enrolling 55 adult smokeless tobacco users to measure these chemicals in their urine. The goal is to gather evidence that could lead to recommendations for making these products safer by reducing or removing this chemical.
