Dental screening before heart surgery may save lives
NCT ID NCT07511673
First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looks at whether a dental checkup before heart valve surgery can help prevent serious problems like infections of the heart, the need for another surgery, or death. About 1300 adults having heart valve surgery will be split into two groups: one gets a dental screening before surgery, the other does not. The goal is to see if the dental screening group has fewer of these serious outcomes over two years.
