Laser eye surgery gets a precision boost: new study tests alignment trick for sharper sight

NCT ID NCT07512115

First seen Apr 16, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 4 times

Summary

This study tests whether a small adjustment during SMILE laser eye surgery can improve vision quality for people with nearsightedness. The adjustment compensates for a slight misalignment between the eye's visual and optical axes. 224 participants will be randomly assigned to receive the standard surgery or the adjusted version, and their vision will be checked over 6 months to see if the adjustment reduces blurring and other visual distortions.
