First seen May 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study aims to understand what factors influence vision quality after SMILE laser eye surgery when a small piece of the lens is intentionally left inside the eye. Researchers will measure changes in higher-order aberrations (tiny vision imperfections) before and after surgery in 33 adults with nearsightedness. The goal is to learn how the retained lens piece affects visual outcomes, which could help improve future surgeries.
